Mr and Mrs Singh from Rochester, Kent visited a number of kitchen showrooms to find the perfect style. Eventually, the couple found their dream design at the Ream showroom in Gillingham. “I never would have thought of going to Ream – I thought oh my gosh it’s going to be really expensive because the showroom has so much going on. We actually had one quote from another company that was double the price. Ream aren’t expensive, they are more mid-range,” said Mrs Singh.
The Kitchen Designer that Made the Difference
Mrs Singh was impressed with their kitchen designer’s dedicated, friendly manner right from the word go. “I showed Lara a few things in magazines, and she took it all on board. She established what I liked very quickly.” “She thought so much about what I would need, even all the little details like a towel rail in my cupboard. I would never have thought of things like that.” Mr and Mrs Singh also left a lot of the colour choice to their designer. They had complete confidence in the decisions she made for them. “The colours of the doors, we actually left completely up to Lara. When she came back to show us, we stuck with everything she suggested because it just worked so well. There wasn’t one thing we didn’t like. She has a great eye for design.”
Style and Practicality
“What I like is that the style of this kitchen won’t become outdated very quickly. It won’t be fashionable for a year and dated the next year. And that’s what we really wanted.” Having a simplistic yet modern design has given our clients the freedom to alter their kitchen accessories and wall colour if they ever fancied a change. The couple’s splashbacks were custom-made by Ream to match their kitchen island. “We are the first people to have these splashbacks” “It’s so much nicer not having tiles and grout to worry about. Splashbacks are a great accessory to add a touch of modernity – they also make cleaning really easy.”
A Fitted Kitchen for the Family
“I was looking for quite a minimalistic kitchen, that really utilises our space,” said Mrs Singh. Our client’s old kitchen design did not effectively make use of their space, leaving them with very little worktop area. “There was so much wasted space in our original kitchen. I had hardly any room to prepare meals. Now we’ve got an abundance of space.” The family now get a lot of use out of their kitchen, with plenty of worktop space and even room for the children to sit and do their homework. “It’s now more like a family area,” says Mrs Singh. The kitchen has also been fitted with larder units and highly regarded, handy Blum drawer components, making food storage a piece of cake.
