The Client’s Brief
For this project, the client wanted a kitchen that felt classic and timeless, while still offering the practicality needed for everyday living. With the added challenge of designing around the staircase, the aim was to create a made-to-measure layout that maximised every inch of available space. The finished design needed to feel bright and traditional, with generous storage, a welcoming island for working and gathering, and a calm, cohesive look throughout.
The Project
This beautifully understated kitchen is a perfect example of how traditional design can feel both fresh and functional. Painted shaker cabinetry in a soft, grey tone creates a timeless foundation, while the clean lines and simple detailing keep the overall look light and contemporary.
To complement the cabinetry, crisp white quartz worktops with subtle veining were introduced across the perimeter and the island, bringing a sense of elegance and durability to the space. The matching upstands and classic white tiled splashback add to the refined, layered look, helping the kitchen feel bright, open, and effortlessly cohesive.
Designed to fit seamlessly around the staircase, the layout was carefully made to measure, ensuring every inch of available space could be maximised without compromising on style. A large central island becomes the heart of the room, offering additional workspace, storage, and a relaxed seating area for casual dining.
Integrated appliances were incorporated throughout to maintain a streamlined finish, including a neatly positioned oven stack and a discreet AEG extractor above the hob. Clever internal storage solutions, such as pull-out larders and corner mechanisms, further enhance the practicality of the space, keeping everything organised and within easy reach.
