Would you have your Washing Machine in the Kitchen?

Following BBC Radio Kent’s discussion with Julia George, we ask whether a washing machine in a kitchen is acceptable.

With households in Europe storing their washing machines in bathrooms, hallways and other areas of their home, the debate centres on where the washing machine is best placed in your home? Lara, our Ream Interiors kitchen designer featured on the morning discussion with Kent Listeners, shares her insight on working with the space you have in your kitchen and the rest of your home:

“With integrated washing machines which are quieter and slimline, the washing machine is no longer an eyesore in the kitchen”

Our homes come in all shapes and sizes, a one solution fits all approach is not the best way to go. A kitchen designer works with the unique space to ensure the client gets their dream kitchen. There has been a rise in the number of home extensions which focus on an open-plan kitchen and living space, often this means there is no other area left to store the washing machine. Alternatively, some extensions can incorporate a compact laundry or utility room. Lara recently designed a laundry room featuring intelligent storage solutions to incorporate a washing machine and tumble dryer with a pullout detergents drawer.
